HBCH&RC Punjab Signs MoU With ESIC Himachal Pradesh

The Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCH&RC), Punjab, has taken a major step towards enhancing access to cancer care by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Himachal Pradesh. This agreement will offer cashless cancer treatment for ESIC cardholders and their families at the HBCH&RC’s state-of-the-art facility in Punjab.

A Landmark Agreement For Accessible Cancer Care

The MoU was signed by Dr. Ashish Gulia, Director of HBCH&RC, and Sanjeev Kumar, Deputy Director of ESIC Himachal Pradesh. The signing ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including Dr. Puneet Banotra, State Medical Officer of ESIC Himachal Pradesh, and Dr. Amandeep Hastir, State Vigilance Officer, ESIC, HP. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in making high-quality cancer care more accessible and affordable for the people of Himachal Pradesh.

Providing Cancer Treatment Without The Financial Burden

Dr. Ashish Gulia expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing the positive impact on patients. “This partnership with ESIC Himachal Pradesh is a monumental step in making cancer care both accessible and affordable.

HBCH&RC, located in New Chandigarh, SAS Nagar, Punjab, is part of the Tata Memorial Centre, renowned for its excellence in cancer care. The Tata Memorial Centre has long been a leader in providing comprehensive cancer treatment across India.

Supporting The Industrial Workforce In Himachal Pradesh

Dr. Gulia also highlighted the importance of this collaboration for the workers in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh’s industrial hub. He pointed out, “This partnership will specifically benefit the working population of Baddi and the broader industrial workforce of Himachal Pradesh, who will now have access to essential cancer treatment.”

A Comprehensive Social Security System

The Employees’ State Insurance Scheme of India serves as a robust social security system, offering protection to workers and their families against health-related contingencies, including sickness, injury, and disease. This partnership with HBCH&RC will ensure that approximately 400,000 ESIC cardholders in Himachal Pradesh, along with their families, will benefit from cashless cancer treatment.

Expanding Access To Affordable Cancer Care

By offering cashless treatment, it aims to alleviate the financial strain often associated with cancer care. HBCH&RC is already empanelled with ESIC in Punjab and Chandigarh, with around 1,000 beneficiaries having accessed cancer care under this association.

Additionally, this MoU builds on recent progress, such as HBCH&RC’s empanelment under the Mukhya Mantri Himachal Health Care Scheme (HIMCARE) in October, which further expanded access to affordable cancer care for residents of Himachal Pradesh.

Commitment To Expanding Healthcare Access

Through this partnership, HBCH&RC further reaffirms its commitment to improving healthcare access for cancer patients in the region. The hospital continues to prioritize the enhancement of healthcare services for workers and their families, ensuring that high-quality cancer care is accessible to more people across India.
