Gurugram Golf Course Road Crash: Arrest, CCTV Claims And Sia’s Allegations - What We Know So Far

The Gurugram Golf Course Road crash involving gym owner Kalyan Bainsla and biker Sia has sparked public anger.

Police have arrested Bainsla in Rajasthan’s Dausa and will bring him to Gurugram.

Bainsla, who describes himself as an international kabaddi player, allegedly drove a Maruti Suzuki Ciaz that collided with Sia’s motorcycle. He has admitted the collision was his fault but denied deliberately hitting her. He claimed he lost control near a U-turn and left after fearing an attack by other bikers.

Sia has strongly rejected his version. In a nearly three-minute social media video, she said available footage contradicted his claims.

“If you felt so sorry for me, then why didn’t you stop? I could have died on the spot,” Sia said.

Sia disputed his claim that bikers repeatedly accelerated and slowed down.

“But my video clearly shows who was actually trying to corner whom,” she said.

Sia alleged that Bainsla’s car followed her group before moving towards her motorcycle. She said he came close, saw her hair, made gestures and signalled her to stop. She said one recording shows the car moving towards the third lane before striking her bike.

Another allegedly shows the vehicle crossing lanes, hitting and dragging her motorcycle for nearly 300 metres.

Sia was riding an Aprilia RS 457 on September 13. She alleged that the white car followed the group on Golf Course Road. She claimed its occupants appeared intoxicated and repeatedly tried to harass and stop her.

Sia escaped serious injuries, partly due to protective riding gear, but suffered muscle pain, body aches and abrasions.

Gurugram Police took suo motu cognisance after the video surfaced and registered a case at Sector 56 police station.

After examining CCTV footage, investigators added Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for attempt to murder. The provision carries up to 10 years’ imprisonment.

Sia’s brother Deepankar sought charges of attempt to murder, hit-and-run and harassment. He said four people were inside the car and Sia clearly saw two faces.

Haryana Minister Gaurav Gautam said, “Whoever is found guilty will be apprehended. Whoever the culprit is, even if it happens to be from my own family, they too will be caught.”

Bainsla’s family lawyer, Advocate Naveen Baisla, called it an accident.

“All these things are false,” he said, claiming Bainsla had asked the bikers to slow down.

The case remains under investigation as police examine CCTV footage, witness accounts and competing versions.
