Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25-year public service journey as a ‘golden and transformative’ chapter in India’s democratic history.
Addressing the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha-Seva Jyoti Yatra’ in Gurugram, Shah highlighted PM Modi’s leadership in Gujarat and at the national level.
The event marked 25 years of his constitutional leadership, with similar Seva Jyoti Yatras organised across districts to promote service, dedication and nation-building.
The programme began with a screening of PM Modi’s address.
Shah and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini later lit a ceremonial torch and flagged off young participants carrying the Seva Jyoti to a nearby intersection around 800 metres away.
Shah said October 7 holds special significance in India’s democratic history, noting that PM Modi had completed 25 years of continuous public service despite his humble background.
The Minister said history would record the period in ‘golden letters’, citing poverty reduction, stronger national security, the abrogation of Article 370, the elimination of Naxalism, the construction of the Ram Janmabhoomi and Kashi Vishwanath temples, and major infrastructure expansion.
Shah claimed that 25 crore people had moved above the poverty line. He described PM Modi’s journey as one centred on ‘India’s welfare, the welfare of the poor and India’s pride’.
The Minister urged citizens, particularly young people, to join the campaign and contribute to nation-building.
Shah prayed for PM Modi’s long life, good health and continued leadership.
The event was attended by Nayab Singh Saini, Smriti Irani, Archana Gupta and Rao Inderjit Singh.
