Goa Minister Govind Gawade Accuses Own Government Of Corruption; Seeks Reply From CM Pramod Sawant

Goa’s Minister Govind Gawade accused his government of corruption, claiming Tribal Welfare officials take bribes to approve contractor files.

Goa’s Art and Culture Minister, Govind Gawade, has accused his own government of corruption, alleging that officials in the Tribal Welfare Department under Chief Minister Pramod Sawant clear contractor files in exchange for bribes.

Gawade made the claim during the ‘Prerna Din’ event held by the Tribal Welfare Department.

In a viral video, he said, “The Tribal Welfare Department receives a huge share of taxpayers’ money. If it cannot manage a simple event, it shows a failure of administration.”

He further added, “Contractor files are being quietly cleared at Shram Shakti Bhavan. They think we don’t know, but we do.”

Minister Slams Delay In Tribal Building

Gawade also criticised the delay in building a tribal community centre. He said he had laid the foundation stone when he served as Tribal Welfare Minister.

The tribal community had donated land, but work has not started in three years.

He asked, “Why is the construction of the tribal building still pending? The foundation is ready. Why is there no progress? The Tribal Welfare Department must give an answer.”

Opposition Targets BJP

Congress MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira reacted strongly.

Taking to X he posted, “Govind Gaude, a minister accusing corruption in his own Government, speaks aloud what public has been alleging all this while. Will he remain firm or be asked by BJP to buckle down and withdraw just like Pandurang Madkaikar?”

The remarks have sparked political tension in Goa. The spotlight now shifts to CM Pramod Sawant’s response.
