Dignitaries and Support Groups Convene at the Constitution Club of India to Celebrate the Tibetan Spiritual Leader’s Legacy and Oppose Transnational Repression

Global Call For Peace And Identity Preservation Marks Dalai Lama's 91st Birthday In New Delhi

A vibrant and deeply emotional celebration marked the 91st birth anniversary of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama at the Constitution Club of India on Friday, July 3, 2026.

Jointly organized by the India Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO) and Himalaya Parivar, Tibet Support Group–India, the mega event seamlessly blended cultural reverence with a resolute message against geopolitical injustice.

The atmosphere resonated with the Dalai Lama’s eternal message of simplicity, compassion, and non-violence, fostering a deep sense of shared destiny and solidarity among attendees.

Celebrating An Icon Of Universal Compassion

The gathering served as a poignant reminder of the enduring civilizational bonds between India and Tibet. Speaking on the occasion, senior RSS leader and Chief Speaker  Indresh Kumar lauded the spiritual leader’s global contribution to human rights and moral ethics. Emphasizing the geopolitical challenges confronting the Tibetan community, Kumar asserted:

”His Holiness the Dalai Lama remains an unparalleled global ambassador of peace and human dignity. The non-violent struggle of Tibet is a testament to the power of truth over totalitarian oppression, and India continues to stand side-by-side with our Tibetan brothers and sisters in safeguarding their legitimate rights.”

Professor (Dr) Shahid Akhter, the Officiating Chairman of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI), attended as a Chief Guest.

In his address, Dr Akhter drew attention to the rich cultural and spiritual legacy that the Dalai Lama has preserved in exile, urging the global community to stand collectively against efforts to erase distinct minority identities.

Countering China’s Policy of Cultural Assimilation

The milestone celebration coincided with a stern warning from the apex body of Tibet support groups. The Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India (CGTC-I), led by National Convener RK Khrimey, released a critical press release condemning the People’s Republic of China’s (PRC) controversial new legislation.

The “Law on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress,” which officially took effect on July 1, 2026, has raised profound international alarms.

According to the CGTC-I, this new legislation acts as a “tool of assimilation” designed to systematically dismantle Tibetan identity.

The apex body highlighted severe human rights concerns, including mandatory Mandarin instruction from pre-kindergarten through high school, the forced breaking up of traditional Tibetan neighborhoods, totalitarian surveillance under the guise of “social governance,” and the threat of transnational repression targeting critics even beyond Chinese borders.

A United Front For Tibetan Rights

The high-profile event drew an array of key organizers and prominent dignitaries who pledged to intensify advocacy for the Tibetan cause. National Convenor of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch, Prof (Dr) Shahid Akhter, Tapir Nagi, along with program coordinators Rishi Walia (National Secretary, Himalaya Parivar) and Tashi Dekyi of the ITCO, successfully brought together diverse socio-political sections onto a single platform.

Other leading public figures present included Member of Parliament Tapir Gao, all echoing the sentiment that the preservation of Tibet’s ancient culture is a vital, non-political global humanitarian priority.

As the event concluded, attendees collectively resolved to adopt the Dalai Lama’s timeless principles of peace and empathy as dynamic weapons against cultural erasure, sending a powerful message of resilience from the heart of India’s capital.
