Democratic Progressive Azad Party Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad on May 27 informed that he will not be attending the inaugural event of the new Parliament building due to a prior engagement.

“I will not be able to attend because I have some prior engagement. We had a dream of a new Parliament. I and then-Prime Minister Narasimha Rao even designed a rough map because the old Parliament was not able to accommodate more people. This is a great achievement. The Opposition should congratulate the Centre instead of boycotting the event. I am against this protest of Opposition. Opposition can instead raise an issue which affects the public,” he said.
