The historic city of Ghazipur transformed into a vibrant hub of literature, culture, and dialogue on Saturday as the Ghazipur Literature Festival 2025 commenced in full grandeur.
Bharat Express CMD and Editor-in-Chief Upendrra Rai, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Rajya Sabha MP Sangita Balwant, and South Africa’s High Commissioner Professor Anil Sokalal jointly inaugurated the three-day event, which celebrates India’s rich literary, cultural, and spiritual heritage.
Addressing the gathering, LG Manoj Sinha expressed his gratitude to Upendrra Rai for organising the festival. He emphasised that the event sends a powerful message to the world: India is not only the fourth-largest economy globally but also one of the richest cultural and spiritual powers.
Sinha praised the dedication, honesty, and hard work of Indians, saying these qualities have earned them a distinct global identity wherever they go.
Reflecting on Ghazipur, the Lieutenant Governor said, “For me, Ghazipur is not just a district, but an entire universe. It is a land of penance, an unwritten scripture that requires the heart’s strings to read. Ghazipur is a journey beyond the mind, a realm of transcendence.”
He described the city as an ‘extraordinary platform of existence’, where words of literature, rhythm of dance, melodies of music, and power of ideas converge in an emotional symphony.
Citing the revered poet Viveki Rai, Sinha noted how Ghazipur connects human existence with nature and spirit, calling it a gateway to the philosophy of non-duality.
LG Sinha highlighted literature’s therapeutic power, stating that while a society can survive without literature, it loses its vibrancy.
He said, “Literature inspires new thoughts, creativity, and imagination. It is this faith, innovation, and emotional depth that form the true strength of society.”
Sinha also underscored India’s economic milestones, highlighting its position as the world’s fourth-largest economy and the third-largest startup ecosystem. He added that the number of unicorns in the country has now exceeded 111.
He stressed that writers, thinkers, and the media bear the responsibility of communicating these achievements. They must inspire confidence and energy in the next generation.
The festival used discussions, performances, and storytelling to showcase Ghazipur’s rich literary and cultural heritage. It reaffirmed the city’s standing as a centre that bridges tradition with contemporary intellectual thought.
