Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has lashed out at the Congress party over its “Gayab” jibe directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people.
Responding on X, Shekhawat wrote, “‘Gayab’ is what they wish Modi ji was. The very thought of him threatens their vicious intentions and villainous existence.”
The Congress had posted an image captioned “Zimmedari Ke Samay Gayab” (Missing during the time to take responsibility). The post was reshared by former Pakistan Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry, sparking political backlash.
BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya accused Congress of using “Sar Tan Se Juda” symbolism. He called it a “dog whistle” aimed at the Muslim vote bank and claimed it incited hatred against the Prime Minister.
“Rahul Gandhi, on multiple occasions, has instigated and justified violence against PM Modi,” Malviya wrote. He added, “If anyone’s neck has been slashed, proverbially, it is the Congress — now a headless hydra, flailing without direction.”
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla called the Congress the “PPP–Pakistan Prasth Party.” He accused Congress of echoing Pakistan’s script and defending the country after terror attacks, including 26/11, Pulwama, and now Pahalgam.
“Congress and Pakistan share a mindset towards the Prime Minister,” said Poonawalla. “Their leaders’ statements are now featured in Pakistani media. They no longer just absolve Pakistan but also shift blame onto Hindus, as seen after Pahalgam.”
The BJP leaders claimed Congress’s repeated attacks on Modi reflect a deeper alignment with hostile narratives.
