The MP-MLA court in Prayagraj has sentenced former Samajwadi Party MLA Saeed Ahmed to five years of imprisonment. The verdict was delivered on Monday in the case involving the former MLA. Alongside Ahmed, Mohammad Azad was also sentenced to five years of imprisonment by the court in the evening. Following the sentencing, the former MLA was taken into custody and later transferred to Naini jail under police supervision. Saeed Ahmed has previously served as the MLA for the Phulpur assembly constituency.
The case against the former MLA was registered at the Civil Lines police station and dates back to 1994. Ahmed has been convicted on charges of kidnapping, demanding ransom, usurping property, and committing fraud. The police had filed a charge sheet in this matter.
DIG Criminal Gulab Chandra Agrahari confirmed that Saeed Ahmed and Mohammad Azad faced charges under various sections, including fraud. The court has now sentenced both Ahmed and Azad to five years of imprisonment.
