Fatal Collision: 5 Lives Lost, 60 Injured in Bus Crash in Tamil Nadu

In a tragic incident on the Chennai-Bengaluru national highway early Saturday morning, a collision between a State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) bus and a Bengaluru-bound omnibus resulted in the loss of at least five lives and left around 60 passengers injured. The impact was so severe that the front portions of both vehicles were completely smashed.

The victims identified include Rithika, 32, from Guduvanchery, Mohammed Firoz, 37, from Vaniyambadi, SETC bus driver K Elumalai, 47, and B Ajith, 25, from Chittoor, who all lost their lives at the scene. Omnibus driver N Syed succumbed to injuries later. The collision occurred around 4 am when the SETC bus struck the median and collided head-on with the omnibus at Chettiyappanur.

Prompt response from the police led to the injured passengers being swiftly transported to hospitals in ten ambulances. The Vaniyambadi government hospital in Tirupattur district and the Government Medical College Hospital in Vellore received the injured for medical care.
