The incentive distribution is a significant step in the rollout of PM-VBRY, a central government initiative focused on promoting job creation, encouraging formal employment and improving workforce participation across sectors.
Government estimates indicate that the scheme has already contributed to the generation of close to 15 lakh jobs nationwide.
Under PM-VBRY, individuals entering the workforce for the first time can receive financial assistance of up to Rs 15,000.
The programme intends to support young workers as they begin their careers in the formal sector.
The scheme also offers financial incentives to employers who expand their workforce.
Businesses can receive up to Rs 3,000 per month for each additional employee recruited. Manufacturing companies are eligible for these benefits for up to four years, while employers in other sectors can avail themselves of support for a period of two years.
Introduced on August 1, 2025, PM-VBRY has a total budget allocation of Rs 99,446 crore.
The government expects the programme to help generate more than 3.5 crore jobs over two years.
Around 1.92 crore of those beneficiaries are to be first-time job seekers entering the formal economy.
Officials say the initiative aims to support employment-led growth, expand social security coverage, and create more formal job opportunities across the country.
