Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the importance of doctors treating patients with compassion during the 120th Foundation Day celebrations of King George’s Medical University (KGMU). He highlighted that a doctor’s empathetic behavior sets the tone for nursing and paramedical staff, ultimately ensuring better patient care.
“The biggest asset of a doctor is compassion. A doctor works with the spirit of ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah’ (May all be happy),” Adityanath said, urging medical professionals to uphold these values.
The Chief Minister announced that a state-of-the-art data center would be established at KGMU, enhancing the institution’s reputation and operational efficiency. He also revealed the approval of ₹377 crore for KGMU’s surgery department, along with budget allocations for fire safety infrastructure and the expansion of Lari Cardiology. Plans for establishing a trauma center are also underway.

Reflecting on KGMU’s legacy, Adityanath praised its role during the COVID-19 pandemic, calling it a testament to the institution’s dedication. He noted that the university, now functioning over an expansive 150-acre campus, is among India’s premier medical institutes.
The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of preparing for future challenges in healthcare, adding, “The identity of an institution is tested in times of crisis.”
Addressing governance, he highlighted the state’s efforts to combat corruption and ensure timely approval of action plans, guaranteeing adequate resources for patient care.
Adityanath reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed India by 2047, with advancements in medical education and healthcare as key pillars of progress.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister of State for Medical Education Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, Principal Secretary Medical Education Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma, and KGMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Sonia Nityananda.
