In a moment that stunned political observers and set social media abuzz, senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh publicly praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for nurturing leaders from the grassroots to the highest offices of power.
Digvijaya Singh shared a rare 1996 photograph featuring PM Modi and BJP stalwart LK Advani, using it to underscore what he described as the unmatched organisational strength of the BJP–RSS ecosystem.
Posting on X, Digvijaya Singh said the image symbolised how ordinary swayamsevaks and party workers, grounded in discipline and commitment, could rise to become Chief Ministers and even Prime Minister.
He described the photograph as ‘very impactful’. He explicitly credited the RSS and the BJP for building a system that empowers workers at the base to scale the summit of national leadership.
Ending his post with ‘Jai Siya Ram’, Singh’s words struck a tone rarely heard from a Congress veteran.
The photograph, widely circulated after Singh’s post, reportedly dates back to 1996 and was taken during the swearing-in ceremony of former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela. It shows LK Advani seated on a chair while PM Narendra Modi, then an organisational leader, sits on the floor nearby.

Congress Leadership Tagged; Timing Raises Eyebrows
What intensified the political resonance was Singh’s decision to tag Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the post.
The timing proved equally significant, as the post coincided with a Congress Working Committee meeting in Delhi.
Political circles quickly interpreted the message as a sharp contrast between the BJP’s cadre-based rise and the Congress party’s internal functioning.
The post triggered immediate reactions from the BJP. Party spokesperson CR Kesavan challenged Rahul Gandhi to respond to what he called a ‘truth bomb’, arguing that Digvijaya Singh’s remarks laid bare the BJP’s merit-driven structure while exposing the Congress leadership’s alleged reluctance to empower grassroots workers.
This was not an isolated instance. Only days earlier, Digvijaya Singh had publicly advised Rahul Gandhi to adopt decentralised reforms within the party, candidly noting that convincing the leadership remained a challenge.
Against that backdrop, his praise of PM Modi’s rise through organisational discipline appeared deliberate and pointed.
For supporters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singh’s post reinforced a long-held narrative: that the BJP-RSS framework creates leaders through years of ground-level engagement, ideological training, and organisational loyalty.
