Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday accused Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi of exploiting students for political purposes amid the ongoing controversy over the NEET paper leak. He said the government remained fully committed to addressing students’ concerns through discussion in Parliament.
The Minister’s remarks came after Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and several Opposition leaders staged a protest outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence at Lok Kalyan Marg, demanding Pradhan’s resignation over the issue.
In a post on X, Pradhan alleged that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress were using students as political tools to create disruption during the Monsoon Session of Parliament. He criticised the Opposition for holding a sit-in outside the Prime Minister’s residence, claiming the protest caused inconvenience to the public and ignored established security protocols.
Pradhan said the government had already expressed its willingness to hold a comprehensive discussion on the NEET issue in Parliament, but the Congress chose political confrontation instead of democratic debate. He added that Rahul Gandhi’s objective was not to find solutions for students but to generate political headlines despite the government’s readiness for dialogue.
Pradhan said the government is ready to discuss the NEET issue in Parliament and remains committed to reforms and addressing students’ concerns.
