PRAYAGRAJ: The dengue outbreak is taking the form of an epidemic in Prayagraj. After many years such a large number of dengue patients have been found.
Almost all the hospitals including government and private are packed with dengue patients. Since early morning long queues of patients and relatives started forming in the queues are seen outside blood banks for platelets and even the blood banks are failing in to fulfill the present demand.
The situation in blood banks has become so tight that platelets are not available without donating blood. The blood bank staff is already saying that as many units of blood as will be given, the same number of units will be received as platelets
Out of total blood samples which are coming for examination maximum samples are coming only for dengue test. The longest queue in government hospitals Pathology where a crowd has increased in such a way that after giving the sample, its report is being received on the second day. By increasing the number of teams working in pathology, they have also been instructed to remain alert.
Meanwhile, the private pathology is taking full advantage of this crisis and is charging up to Rs 1000 for investigation. To get quick reports, people are forced to undergo expensive tests.

According to Chief Medical Officer Dr Ashu Panday, said that at Bali Hospital more than four dozen teams are working in the pathology. Different places have been designated for registration and sample collection. So that the attendants or their patients do not face any inconvenience. Efforts are being made to ensure that the disabled and elderly do not face any problems.
Hi-tech machines are installed in the lab due to which samples of more and more patients are being tested.
Samples of 500 to 700 patients are being collected every day. Due to the large number, reports are not available immediately. Some reports are being given the next day.
The lab technicians are working from 8 in the morning till late evening.

According to Dr Yash Agarwal, a renowned doctor in the city Platelets are decreasing not only in dengue but also in viral fever patients. If platelets are too low, then only we are advising for platelet transfusion. In such a situation, attendants are reaching blood banks for platelets.
In case of mild fever, cold, and cough, as a precaution, doctors are saying that a dengue test is mandatory. There is no fixed scale for the rate of private pathological examination. The kit is used to report whether dengue is positive or negative.
CMO further said that he is also continuously receiving complaints regarding the charge for the dengue test. I am personally looking into this matter and directed the concerned officials for surprise checks and investigate those making arbitrary recoveries in the name of dengue.
Wherever irregularities are found, that lab will be sealed by taking action under the Clinical Establishment Act. Just as the rate was fixed at the time of Corona, a rate for dengue testing will soon be fixed for the entire state, he added.
