A 17-year-old boy lost his life, and another youth was injured following a stabbing incident during a wedding procession in the Rani Bagh area, police said on Saturday.
The violence broke out late on Friday night at around 11:15 PM, when a dispute between two groups of youngsters escalated into a physical confrontation.
The deceased, identified as Nikhil Yadav, had attended the function with friends.
According to initial accounts, an argument among some attendees turned aggressive, and Nikhil may have attempted to calm the situation. During the chaos, he was allegedly attacked with a knife by one of those present.
Nikhil suffered multiple stab wounds and was rushed to the hospital, where he later died during treatment.
Another youth, identified as Sunny, was also injured in the incident and remains under medical care.
Friends and relatives claimed that both Nikhil and Sunny were targeted during the altercation, with the latter sustaining injuries below the waist.
Police officials said senior personnel reached the scene soon after receiving information. A forensic team examined the area, and CCTV footage from nearby locations is being analysed.
Several individuals have been detained for questioning as part of the investigation.
Both the victim and the injured youth were residents of Rohini.

Preliminary information indicates that Nikhil worked as a motor mechanic. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and a case has been registered.
Teams from the Delhi Police, including staff from the local police station and special units, have been deployed to identify and apprehend those responsible.

The dispute was reportedly linked to the selection of music played by the DJ.
Authorities confirmed that seven individuals, including some minors, have been detained within hours of the incident.
