In a shocking revelation Delhi Traffic Police on Sunday informed that they had issued more than 100 Challans for minor driving from January to May this year.
According to the input, the number of challans has registered an increase of 15 per cent compared to the same period in 2023.
However, a senior traffic police official attributed this increase to the enforcement of law by the department. The officer said that the rise in the number of challans was due to the traffic police’s steadfast dedication to establishing the law and their tackling strategy.
Delhi Traffic Police have implemented several measures over the year to tackle the issue.
These precautions involve tightening monitoring, increasing staffing at strategic checkpoints, and intensifying patrols in regions where juveniles frequently commit traffic infractions.
The senior traffic officer asserted, “The crackdown on minor driving is part of a broader initiative to enhance road safety and reduce accidents involving young and inexperienced drivers. We have been conducting awareness campaigns in schools and communities to educate parents and guardians about the legal and safety implications of allowing minors to drive.”
“These educational efforts are designed to complement the enforcement actions and foster a culture of responsible driving from a young age,” the officer added.
