A tragic episode unfolded in New Delhi, where a 28-year-old man allegedly took his own life while being recorded by his cousin. The victim, Pawan Kumar, lived in Dallupura village.
According to Delhi Police, officials received information on March 16 from Dharamshila Hospital regarding a medico-legal case involving a gunshot injury. Upon arrival, officers found that the man had already been declared dead.
Preliminary findings indicated that the shooting took place at the victim’s residence in Dallupura.
Police teams, supported by forensic experts, inspected both the hospital premises and the original location. The body was subsequently transferred to LBS Hospital for further examination.
Authorities determined that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted using a licensed pistol belonging to the victim’s cousin, Himanshu. The weapon, along with ten live cartridges and the recording device, was taken into custody.
Officials said the video footage appears to show the victim handling the firearm before discharging it, while the individual filming seemed unaware of what was about to happen. Investigators have collected all relevant forensic material.
A case has been filed under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and provisions of the Arms Act at New Ashok Nagar Police Station.
Police stated that the matter is under active investigation from all possible angles.
The footage reportedly captures the victim loading the pistol and preparing to fire despite a warning from his cousin. He then aimed the weapon at his chest and pulled the trigger, collapsing instantly.
Authorities are continuing efforts to establish the complete sequence of events.
