The India Meteorological Department (IMD) expects Delhi and the adjoining NCR to enter a drier and hotter phase after several weeks of rain-induced relief.
Weather officials have forecast that the region will witness a steady rise in temperatures over the next few days, with little chance of rainfall.
The IMD has predicted that Delhi-NCR will face hot and humid conditions with temperatures ranging between 33°C and 35°C during the day.
The nights, too, will feel warmer, with minimum temperatures hovering between 24°C and 25°C.
Humidity levels are expected to remain high, ranging from 55% to 75%, making the mornings and evenings particularly uncomfortable.
Despite partly cloudy skies between 10 and 12 September, there is little expectation of rainfall.
On 13 September, clouds will generally cover the skies, but no rain is expected. Clearer weather will return on 14 and 15 September.
No Weather Warnings but Discomfort Ahead
The Meteorological Department has not issued any weather warnings for the coming week.
However, officials have cautioned that the absence of rain, combined with intense sunlight and persistent humidity, will likely lead to discomfort for residents.
The return of strong sunshine could intensify the heat, especially during the day. According to experts, the fading effect of the monsoon by mid-September is contributing to this weather shift.
One of the major concerns during this transition is the expected drop in air quality.
After enjoying relatively clean air during the rainy season, the region is likely to experience a deterioration in the Air Quality Index (AQI) as the dry spell sets in.
Meteorologists have warned that with reduced rainfall and rising temperatures, pollutant levels could begin to climb.
With no significant rain forecast and temperatures already reaching up to 34°C, the Delhi-NCR region should prepare for rising heat and discomfort.
Authorities advise residents to take precautions, stay hydrated, and limit prolonged exposure to the sun.
As the monsoon recedes, the changing weather marks the beginning of the post-monsoon season, which typically brings increased pollution levels and dry conditions across northern India.
