Delhi High Court Appoints Sole Arbitrator For Ashneer Grover And BharatPe Dispute

The Delhi High Court has appointed a sole arbitrator to resolve the dispute between Ashneer Grover and fintech firm BharatPe. The arbitrator will address allegations that Grover breached confidentiality under his employment agreement. Justice C Hari Shankar issued the order in response to a plea filed by BharatPe under Section 11 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act.

BharatPe claimed that Grover, as the former CEO and managing director, had access to sensitive company information. The company alleged that Grover disclosed this information through social media posts. BharatPe invoked arbitration under the employment agreement and proposed former Supreme Court judge Justice Hemant Gupta as the arbitrator.

Ashneer  Grover Disputes Arbitrator Choice

Grover consented to the formation of the arbitral tribunal but opposed the appointment of Justice Gupta. He recommended that Justice (Retd) JR Midha serve as the sole arbitrator instead. The dispute now awaits resolution by the appointed arbitrator.
