Delhi Court Directs BJP Leader To Respond To Atishi's Petition

The Delhi High Court has issued notice to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in response to a plea by Kashmiri youth Mateen Ahmad Bhat, challenging the framing of charges against him under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The bench of Justices Pratibha M Singh and Amit Sharma has scheduled the hearing on November 14, along with appeals from co-accused individuals.

NIA Accuses Bhat of Terror Links

Bhat was arrested in October 2021 based on an NIA FIR, accusing him of supporting terrorist groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hijab-ul-Mujahideen (HM), and Al Badr.

Bail Granted, but NIA Appeals

In May 2023, a Delhi court granted Bhat bail, stating no evidence linked him to handling weapons or radical education. The NIA’s appeal against this bail is still pending in the High Court.
