Delhi Court Extends Judicial Custody Of CM Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, & K Kavitha

On Wednesday, a Delhi court extended the custody of CM Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and K Kavitha in the excise policy case.

Judicial Custody

On Wednesday, a court in Delhi extended the judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and BRS leader K Kavitha in connection with the ongoing excise policy investigation.

The trio, currently held at Tihar Jail, appeared via video conferencing due to the expiration of their previous custody period.

Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Court granted an extension of judicial custody for the accused until 9 August in the CBI’s case and until 13 August for the money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Earlier this week, on Monday, the Delhi High Court reserved its decision on a bail application submitted by CM Kejriwal regarding the CBI’s corruption allegations.

On the same day, the CBI submitted its charge sheet to a special court, implicating Kejriwal and other figures in the case.

The Enforcement Directorate had previously filed a prosecution complaint, which included allegations against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leader Arvind Kejriwal.

The Supreme Court had previously directed Kejriwal’s release on interim bail related to the ED case on 12 July. However, the CBI’s subsequent detention of Kejriwal delayed his release.
