Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday reaffirmed India’s firm zero tolerance policy towards terrorism and called upon the international community to join hands in uprooting the global menace.
Sharing on the social media platform X, Rajnath Singh emphasised that fighting terrorism is not a choice but a shared global responsibility.
Sharing an article published in an English daily, Rajnath Singh underscored how India has endured decades of state-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan, citing attacks such as 26/11 in Mumbai, the 2001 Parliament attack, and the recent Pahalgam massacre.
He stated, “We have shown how to stem terrorism,” and urged the world to adopt India’s approach in confronting violent extremism.
Calling fear the currency of terrorism, Rajnath Singh condemned recent attacks, including those in Pahalgam, where assailants targeted victims based on religion.
He stressed that such acts failed to fracture India’s unity. Defence Minister Singh reiterated that terrorists seek to divide, but their efforts continue to fail in the face of India’s resilience.
The Defence Minister reinforced India’s policy shift under the NDA government, declaring that any future dialogue with Pakistan would strictly revolve around terrorism and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK).
He urged Islamabad to demonstrate sincerity by handing over UN-designated terrorists such as Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar.
Defence Minister Singh highlighted a significant evolution in India’s counter-terror strategy. “Earlier, our forces were limited to defensive actions.
Now, we conduct surgical strikes, Balakot airstrikes, and Operation Sindoor,” he said.
Asserting that acts of terror are acts of war, he declared that India will now “eliminate terrorists wherever they are.”
He warned that if Pakistan fails to restrain terror groups operating from its soil, it will face severe consequences.
Rajnath Singh shared that India has already taken tough measures, such as diplomatic isolation, economic deterrence, and suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, until Pakistan abandons terrorism.
Expressing concern over Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal, Defence Minister Singh warned of the danger that atomic weapons may fall into non-state actors’ hands.
He advocated placing Pakistan’s nuclear assets under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) supervision.
Rajnath Singh also condemned state honours being given to designated terrorists, reflecting the nexus between Pakistan’s state and non-state actors.
