Delhi Women's Commission Chairperson Swati Maliwal
Delhi News: A drunk driver allegedly molested and dragged Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal for 10-15 meters after she got stuck in his car’s window around 3 a.m. on Thursday. The driver, 47, has been arrested.
According to DCP Chandan Singh, a call was received at Hauz Khas police station about a car owner making wrong gestures to a woman and dragging her for 10-15 meters. Police told that the age of the accused is 47 years and he had consumed alcohol. An FIR has also been registered regarding the matter. Meanwhile, the police said that the woman who was molested is ‘Swati Maliwal’, the chairperson of the Delhi Women’s Commission.
‘Chairman of Women’s Commission herself is not safe in Delhi’ ‘Swati Maliwal’
Swati Maliwal tweeted that night “I was inspecting the condition of women’s security in Delhi”. A driver molested me in an intoxicated condition and when I caught him, he dragged me by locking my hand in the mirror of the car. God has saved my life, if the chairperson of the Women’s Commission in Delhi is not safe, then imagine the situation.

Police sources reveal, “The patrolling vehicle spotted a woman on the footpath in front of AIIMS Gate No. 2 at 3.05 am. During the inquiry, the woman told that she was dragged by the car. The woman told that a drunk Baleno car driver stopped near her, and he asked the woman to sit in the car with bad intentions. After the woman’s refusal, he left and came back after taking a U-turn from the service lane. The driver once again asked the woman to sit in the car. The woman shouted at him. When she reached the driver’s side window, the car driver quickly rolled up the window glass. The woman’s hand got stuck in the car and she was dragged for 10-15 meters.
