Dr. Ajit Kumar Mohanty, Secretary of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, inaugurated advanced patient care facilities at Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, New Chandigarh. The hospital, under Tata Memorial Centre and established by the DAE, aims to enhance cancer care and diagnostics in the region.
The Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 24, 2022, remains a leading cancer treatment and research center. The new facilities include a CT Scan service, an advanced Operation Theatre Complex, and a Nuclear Imaging Department, further strengthening the hospital’s capabilities to deliver cutting-edge cancer care.
During the event, Dr. Mohanty praised Tata Memorial Centre’s hub-and-spoke model, emphasizing its effectiveness in extending comprehensive cancer care. “These facilities represent a significant step forward in delivering accessible and advanced cancer treatment. The CT Scan service improves diagnostics, while the OT Complex and Nuclear Imaging Department enable more precise care,” Dr. Mohanty noted.
Tata Memorial Centre Director Dr. Sudeep Gupta, former TMC Director Padma Shri Dr. R.A. Badwe, and HBCH&RC Director Dr. Ashish Gulia also attended the inauguration. Dr. Gupta highlighted that the upgrades reinforce their commitment to world-class cancer care, while Dr. Gulia stressed the enhanced capabilities in precise treatments.
Dr. Mohanty also interacted with hospital staff, commending their dedication. He reiterated the DAE’s ongoing support in boosting the hospital’s infrastructure and mission in the fight against cancer.
