D. K. Shivakumar Writes To ADGP Appeals To Quash Charges against Him

Congress started which the grand old party is expert in. Misusing the government powers. Almost instantly after assuming charge in Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister, D. K. Shivakumar has written to the Additional Director General of Police Hitendra to quash the Hubballi riot cases that took place in 2022.

Hitendra, on his part has asked the Hubballi Police Commissioner  to share the documents pertaining to the Hubbali riot cases in which Shivakumar was implicated. The document included the copies of FIRs, chargesheets and witness statements.

Now let’s take a look back into Hubballi riots in order to refresh our memory.

A picture on WhatsApp went viral which depicted a saffron flag on top of a mosque. This has sparked a big riot in front of old Hubballi police station on April 16, 2022. Many muslims congregated in front of the police station with an objective to protest which eventually led to riots.  Twelve FIRs were registered and 158 people were arrested in the incident.

An individual, Avishek, who posted the picture on WhatsApp was of course arrested. This didn’t pacify the protestors and they pelted stones at the police station, hospitals, temples and residential premises out there.

Earlier Congress MLA Tanveer Sait wrote to the state home minister G. Parameshwara for a relook into the incident.
