With the Trinamool Congress (TMC) holding protests in the capital over the “financial negligence” by the union government. The centre, on the other hand, said the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has helped the West Bengal government more than the earlier United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime.

Speaking to mediapersons, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that the ruling alliance in the centre has provided financial assistance to West Bengal but the leaders of the ruling party in the state is indulged in mass corruptions which is indirectly supported by the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. “The NDA government led by Narendra Modi has offered Rs 54,150 crores to Bengal, which is much higher than the Rs 14,985 crores UPA government has offered,” said Thakur.
West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar said that a number of times the central teams visited West Bengal and pointed the irregularities under TMC regime but the state government just paid a deaf ear to it.

Union Minister of state for Education and BJP MP Subhas Sarkar said the central government was forced to suspend the grants because of irregularities. Locket Chatterjee, another BJP MP from the state said that the Union Government is helping the state government financially but the TMC government isn’t producing the accounts books.
