Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated Lovepreet Singh and Seema Kaliramna for their medal-winning performances at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, praising their determination and contribution to India’s campaign.
Congratulating Lovepreet Singh, PM Modi described his performance in the men’s +110kg weightlifting event as exceptional.
In a post on X, PM Modi praised the weightlifter for winning silver, highlighted his Commonwealth Games record in the snatch, and said his dedication and determination were truly admirable.
The Prime Minister also wished him success in his future endeavours.

PM Modi also lauded Seema Kaliramna after she secured bronze in the women’s discus throw.
In another post on X, PM Modi said her best throw of 58.65 metres had made India proud and inspired the nation’s youth. He also wished the athlete continued success in the future.

Lovepreet claimed the silver medal with a combined lift of 388kg, finishing just 1kg behind New Zealand’s David Liti. His performance also included a new Commonwealth Games snatch record.
Seema secured the bronze medal in the women’s discus throw with a best effort of 58.65 metres, overcoming difficult conditions and multiple fouls to finish on the podium.
The two medals further strengthened India’s campaign in Glasgow, with Lovepreet producing a record-breaking performance in weightlifting and Seema delivering a determined display in athletics.
India’s medal tally at the Commonwealth Games 2026 now stands at 17 medals: three gold, 10 silver and four bronze.
