PM Modi To Inaugurate Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport At Bhogapuram

The stage is set for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district on Saturday.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth more than ₹17,900 crore, reinforcing the Centre’s focus on infrastructure-led growth.

PM Modi will arrive at Bhogapuram around 11 AM, inspect the state-of-the-art passenger terminal and then inaugurate the airport. He will also address a public gathering attended by Governor S Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Union Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu.

Built under the PPP model at a cost of over ₹5,640 crore, the Greenfield airport will handle six million passengers annually and boost connectivity, tourism, trade, investment and employment in Andhra Pradesh.

The terminal features AI-powered systems, biometric processing, automated baggage handling and other smart technologies to enhance efficiency, safety and passenger convenience.

The airport also features a 5 MW solar power plant, rainwater harvesting and energy-efficient infrastructure, while meeting the US Green Building Council (USGBC) standards.

Inspired by Andhra Pradesh’s cultural heritage, the airport’s architecture reflects traditional Chuttilu cottages and the scenic landscapes of the Araku Valley. Its distinctive roof design, inspired by the graceful movement of a flying fish, blends regional identity with contemporary airport architecture, creating a modern gateway for the state.
