Crowd of Shiva devotees gathered in Shiva temples for Jalabhishek, rushing in temples since morning

Banda. : On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, Shiva devotees flock to the Shiva temples across the Banda district. Performing Jalabhishek, devotees express their heartfelt prayers, hoping for the fulfillment of their wishes. Since 3 am, devotees have been devoutly offering prayers and performing Jalabhishek at the renowned Shiva temples of Vamdeveshwar and Neelkanth temple within the precincts of Kalinjar Fort. Simultaneously, various programs and worship rituals are underway at other temples in the city, drawing enthusiastic participation from devotees.

Given the substantial turnout at Vamdeveshwar temple, stringent security measures have been put in place by the police. The City Kotwal, along with officials from Balkhandi Naka, Mardannaka, Khaipar, and Chhoti Bazar police posts, alongside the police force, vigilantly monitor the temple premises. Devotees, patiently queuing up for the darshan of Lord Bholenath inside the cave, are guided through to have a glimpse of the revered deity.

The Vamdeveshwar temple, nestled atop Bambeshwar mountain in Banda city, holds ancient significance, believed to have been established by Maharishi Vamdev. Its self-built cave temple is steeped in history, with legends suggesting even Lord Ram sought solace here during his exile. Devotees have been offering prayers to Lord Shiva since dawn at this sacred site.

The Neelkanth temple within the confines of Kalinjar fort is renowned for its association with the legend of Lord Shiva consuming Kalakoot poison and quelling the ensuing fire within his throat. The unique Shivling housed here exudes a constant drip of water, resembling sweat, throughout the year.

To manage the influx of devotees, Naval Tripathi, Ashutosh Dixit, Shashi Shekhar Srivastava, Pradeep Nigam Lala, and other members of the Shri Vamdev Temple Management Committee, along with Anand Vajpayee, Lalla Vajpayee, Narendra Singh Nanna, Kamlesh Dubey, Rajendra Kachhwaha, Ashok Omar, Vidhu Tripathi, Punit Goswami, Suresh Sahu, Prakash Yadav, Ashish, and others extend their support.
