The literary legacy of eminent poet and Padma Bhushan awardee Gopal Das Neeraj was celebrated at the ‘Karwan Geeton Ka… Neeraj’ programme held at Mavalankar Hall of the Constitution Club in New Delhi.
Upendrra Rai, Chairman & Managing Director, and Editor-in-Chief of Bharat Express News Network, attended the programme and paid tribute to the celebrated poet, recalling his lasting contribution to Hindi literature and poetry.
Speaking at the event, CMD Upendrra Rai said words would fall short while describing the stature of Gopal Das Neeraj.
Calling him the ‘Mahakavi of the century’, CMD Upendrra Rai said Neeraj’s songs continue to retain their power and timeless appeal even today. He said he considers himself a part of Neeraj’s family and is carrying out his responsibilities as the Patron of the Gopal Das Neeraj Foundation.
Bharat Express News Network CMD recalled Neeraj’s lines, ‘Chhip-Chhip Ashru Bahaane Walon’ and ‘Kuchh Sapnon Ke Mar Jaane Se Jeevan Mara Nahin Karte’, describing them as among his strongest sources of inspiration. He further urged young people to remain humane and compassionate, highlighting the continuing relevance of Neeraj’s thoughts and literary works.
The venue hosted a painting exhibition showcasing the work of young artists.
CMD Upendrra Rai visited the exhibition and appreciated the efforts of the participating artists.
Neha Joshi organised the exhibition. She has previously worked in the media sector and now trains children in painting while helping emerging artists find better platforms to showcase their talent.
The programme brought together literature, art and cultural expression to celebrate Neeraj’s enduring influence.
The event highlighted how his poetry and songs continue to connect with audiences while inspiring new generations through their emotional depth and timeless message.
