‘Karwan Geeton Ka... Neeraj’: Bharat Express Celebrates Poet’s Enduring Literary Legacy

The national capital hosted a special evening dedicated to the enduring literary legacy of eminent Hindi poet and Padma Bhushan awardee Gopal Das ‘Neeraj’.

The programme, titled ‘Karwan Geeton Ka… Neeraj’, brought together personalities from literature, art and cinema to celebrate the poet’s timeless contribution.

Union Minister of State Prof SP Singh Baghel attended the programme and joined other distinguished guests in remembering Neeraj’s remarkable body of work.

Upendrra Rai, Chairman & Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Bharat Express News Network, was present at the event, which sought to preserve and promote the celebrated poet’s literary and musical legacy.

Bharat Express News Network, Mahakavi Gopal Das Neeraj Foundation Trust and Sonvi Events Mumbai jointly organised the programme.

Artists presented Neeraj’s popular songs and literary compositions through live musical performances, bringing his memorable words back to the stage.

The evening, however, allowed audiences to revisit the poet’s distinctive style and appreciate the lasting relevance of his writings.

Neeraj created a unique space for himself by connecting Hindi literature with Indian cinema. His celebrated songs, including ‘Karwan Guzar Gaya’, ‘Phoolon Ke Rang Se’ and ‘Ae Bhai Zara Dekh Ke Chalo’, continue to enjoy popularity. His ability to combine literary richness with simple human emotions has helped his work remain relevant across generations.

The programme, however, served as a tribute to a poet whose words transformed into songs. Those songs continue to resonate with audiences.

Neeraj’s works explored love, sensitivity, life and emotions rooted in everyday experiences.

The presence of Prof SP Singh Baghel and Bharat Express CMD Upendrra Rai added significance to the gathering. The event, however, reflected a wider effort to keep Neeraj’s literary and musical legacy alive.

The Delhi evening reaffirmed that while a poet may pass away, the journey of his words continues through generations.
