CM Yogi Honours Boatmen

On February 27, during his visit to Maha Kumbh Nagar, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath acknowledged the tireless efforts of boatmen who played a crucial role in facilitating the sacred bath for over 66 crore devotees.

He honoured them with certificates and expressed his gratitude for their invaluable contribution during the Maha Kumbh at Triveni Complex.

Special Benefits For Boatmen

In a significant move, CM Yogi announced that the government would extend special facilities to boatmen, starting with their registration.

He assured them of financial assistance and an insurance cover of ₹5 lakh for each boatman.

These steps are aimed at safeguarding their livelihoods and enhancing their welfare.

Historic Role & Recognition

Drawing a historical parallel, CM Yogi reminded the boatmen of their legacy, similar to the role played by Nishadraj in helping Lord Ram cross the Ganges.

He acknowledged that just as Nishadraj had assisted during Treta Yuga, today’s boatmen continue this sacred tradition, helping crores of devotees bathe at the Sangam during Maha Kumbh.

The Chief Minister also announced additional initiatives under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana to support the Nishad community.

He revealed that under the Kisan Aapda Yojana, boat operators would be eligible for disaster assistance of ₹5 lakh in case of an unfortunate incident.

The government will link boatmen without health insurance to the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, providing them with a ₹5 lakh health cover.

Commitment To Empowerment

CM Yogi emphasized that these welfare measures reflect the government’s commitment to empowering the boatmen and the Nishad community, preserving their legacy, and securing their future.

He also highlighted that the government would install a grand statue of Lord Shri Ram and Nishadraj in Shringverpur to tribute their role.

After his interaction with boatmen, CM Yogi also praised the efforts of Uttar Pradesh Roadways drivers.

He announced an additional bonus of ₹10,000 for those involved in the transport of passengers during the Maha Kumbh, appreciating their significant contribution in connecting devotees to the event.
