Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the cleanliness fortnight ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ in Varanasi on Tuesday, despite bad weather and rain. The Chief Minister flagged off the Namo Plugthon and cleanliness volunteers as part of the event. This drive coincided with the 74th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the proponent of ‘Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat’. To promote cleanliness, Yogi Adityanath distributed bags and ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ T-shirts to participants.
Hundreds of volunteers braved the heavy rain, chanting ‘Bharat Maa Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ while carrying umbrellas. The event also saw the presence of State Government Minister Ravindra Jaiswal, Mayor Ashok Tiwari, City South MLA Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari, and District Panchayat President Poonam Maurya.
Temple Visits and Prayers for PM On His Birthday
On the second day of his Varanasi tour, Yogi Adityanath began by visiting Baba Kalbhairav and Shri Kashi Vishwanath temples. He first performed darshan and worship at the shrine of Kotwal Baba Kalbhairav, followed by aarti. After blessing local children, he visited the Kashipuradhipati temple, where he performed rituals and milk anointing of the sacred Jyotirlinga. The Chief Minister prayed for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s long life, as well as for peace, happiness, and prosperity for the country and the state.
