On Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a state-of-the-art 300-bed Super Specialty Hospital and Trauma Center in Sector-4, Vasant Khand, Gomtinagar Extension, Lucknow.
With a symbolic button press, officials officially opened Health City Extension Hospital, marking a significant milestone in the region’s healthcare infrastructure.
During the inauguration, Chief Minister Adityanath praised Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, Managing Director of the hospital, and his team for their dedication in bringing this ambitious project to fruition.
He referred to the hospital as a valuable gift to the residents of Gomtinagar Extension, emphasizing its dual role as both a service provider and a source of livelihood.
CM Yogi stated, “This hospital is not just a building; it is a medium of service and a means of employment.”
He lauded the rapid advancements in the healthcare sector over the past decade, highlighting the success of initiatives like the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which has provided healthcare coverage to over 5 crore 11 lakh people across the country.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund have extended health benefits to 1.88 lakh people.
Reflecting on the journey of healthcare development in the region, CM Yogi noted that the transformation from the humble beginnings of the Vivekananda Polyclinic to the establishment of the 300-bed super specialty hospital is a testament to the progress made.
He also announced plans to include the Ayushman Bharat scheme at Health City Extension Hospital, ensuring that patients receive up to Rs 5 lakh in health insurance coverage.
The Chief Minister underscored the significance of this new facility, not only for Lucknow but for the surrounding areas as well, predicting that it would greatly enhance access to quality healthcare services.
He also touched on Uttar Pradesh’s evolving investment landscape, pointing out that the initial Rs 4 lakh crore investment goal at the first Investor Summit has now expanded to an impressive Rs 40 lakh crore.
This, he said, is part of the state’s broader ambition to become a one trillion-dollar economy.
Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, speaking about the hospital’s inception, explained that the project began 10 years ago, culminating in the launch of Health City Hospital in 2016.
The hospital boasts 300 beds, 40 OPDs, 60 critical care beds, 8 operation theaters, and more than 75 senior doctors, spread across 2 lakh square meters of built-up area on 3 acres of land.
Dr. Kapoor emphasized that the hospital was constructed with cost efficiency in mind, which would help reduce the financial burden on patients and make healthcare more affordable.
The hospital, operated by a group of doctors who are both investors and operators, is also set to contribute to medical tourism in the region.
Dr. Kapoor announced plans to establish training and nursing schools, aiming to replicate successful healthcare models from abroad in Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the hospital also actively participates in the Village Level Entrepreneurship Programme, further contributing to regional development.
Several dignitaries attended the inauguration event, including Regional MLA Yogesh Shukla, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, Dr. Vaibhav Khanna, the hospital’s Managing Director Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, and partner doctors Dr. Sandeep Garg, Dr. KB Jain, and Dr. Rajesh Arora, along with other officials and hospital team members.
