CM Saini: 800 MW Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Unit To Be Set Up In Haryana

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that they will commission a new 800 MW Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Unit at the Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant in Khedar, Hisar, with an investment of Rs 7,250 crore. This project aims to make the state self-reliant in power generation, he stated during the launch of the Additional Subsidy Scheme under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme’ at a state-level event in Ambala.

The Chief Minister also handed out certificates to beneficiaries of the scheme.

In a significant announcement, he declared the removal of the monthly minimum electricity charge. Henceforth, residents will be billed solely based on their electricity consumption, providing substantial relief to consumers.

Under the new scheme, poor families earning less than Rs 180,000 annually will receive a subsidy of Rs 60,000 from the Central government and Rs 50,000 from the state to install rooftop solar plants. Although the installation cost is Rs 110,000, consumers will not have to pay anything out of pocket. Families with an income between Rs 180,000 and Rs 3 lakh will receive a subsidy of Rs 60,000 from the Centre and Rs 20,000 from the state.
