Supreme Court: On December 1, the Supreme Court heard a case concerning the state governor’s decision to postpone the bills approved by the Tamil Nadu Assembly. The Governor and the Chief Minister should meet to find a solution to this issue, the Supreme Court ordered the Attorney General to request during the hearing. On December 11, the Supreme Court will hear this case.
Note that on November 18, MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, presented a special resolution to the state assembly for consideration of ten bills that had been passed by the House and returned by Governor RN Ravi.
This issue has been deemed “a matter of serious concern” by the Supreme Court. The governor is currently considering twelve bills. The Tamil Nadu government had earlier petitioned the court, asking for orders to be given to the Governor to forward bills and other documents that the government and the Tamil Nadu Assembly had sent to his office within a certain amount of time.
