In a blend of craftsmanship and patriotism, Bhubaneswar-based Club Chocolate – a school for baking and pastry arts – has created the country’s first-ever chocolate sculpture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The unique edible artwork is not just a realistic bust but a symbolic representation of some of the Prime Minister’s most impactful schemes and visions.
A team of 15 diploma students, guided by Chef Rakesh Kumar Sahu and mentor Ranjan Parida, worked tirelessly for seven days to complete the project.
Using 70 kilograms of chocolate – including 55 kg of dark and 15 kg of white – the team sculpted a life-size bust that pays homage to the Prime Minister’s leadership.
“This is not just chocolate art; it is our heartfelt tribute to the Prime Minister who inspires millions of Indians,” said Chef Sahu, Co-Founder of Club Chocolate.
A Tribute with Meaning
The sculpture is more than a likeness. It integrates references to several flagship initiatives championed by PM Modi, such as Ujjwala Yojana, Digital India, and Operation Sindoor, showcasing how art can convey deeper political and social messages.
“We want to present this sculpture to him as a gift on his birthday before 17 September,” added Chef Sahu. “It’s our way of expressing gratitude using the craft we know best.”
For the students involved, this project extended beyond the kitchen. It taught them about dedication, teamwork, and using culinary skills to express ideas.
“Being part of this taught us patience and the power of collaboration,” said student Ranjan Kumar Parida. “It’s a proud moment to have created something that goes beyond aesthetics.”
Another student, Sunayana Mahapatra, shared, “Chocolate isn’t just a treat—it can be an artistic medium to honour those we respect. This sculpture carries a message of appreciation and admiration.”
The creators hope to gift the sculpture to PM Modi and see it acknowledged in his Mann Ki Baat radio address.
As the first of its kind in India, the sculpture represents an innovative blend of culinary art and national pride, and positions Club Chocolate as a leader in edible creative expression.
This artistic homage underscores the growing role of India’s young creators in celebrating leadership through new and imaginative mediums.
