CJP Protest In Delhi: Metro Stations Closed, Internet Suspended In Key Zone

Delhi Police has intensified security across the national capital ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday, deploying personnel at key locations and tightening checks along state borders.

Security measures include vehicle inspections, surveillance at sensitive sites and the use of body cameras by officers.

Police have also strengthened security outside Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s residence and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s home.

Several Metro stations, including Supreme Court and Mandi House, remain closed.

Internet services have been suspended within a four-kilometre radius of the Janpath-Kartavya Path crossing for 24 hours from 10:00 PM on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Anant Mittal inspected arrangements at the Aya Nagar border. He further said officers were checking vehicles at inter-state and inter-district borders to prevent unauthorised entry into New Delhi and maintain public order.

Police have deployed drones and Rapid Action Force personnel at New Delhi Railway Station. Security marches and vehicle checks continue.

Additional barricades now strengthen security at the Ghazipur and Badarpur borders and along Feroz Shah Road towards Mandi House.

Additional Central Industrial Security Force personnel are guarding Gyanesh Kumar’s residence.

In Ghaziabad, police and Border Security Force personnel are checking vehicles at Loni Gol Chakkar, with CCTV cameras monitoring the area.

Passenger movement continued at Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station. A traveller told IANS that passengers faced no difficulties despite initial uncertainty over the restrictions.

Gautam Buddh Nagar Police have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita until October 20.

The restrictions bar unauthorised gatherings of five or more people, processions, provocative speeches and misleading information.

Delhi Police have designated a 1.5-kilometre radius around Jantar Mantar as a highly sensitive zone. The zone covers Janpath, the Election Commission office and police headquarters.

The move comes ahead of the protest demanding Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.
