Rescue operations are ongoing in Rajasthan’s Kiratpura village, located in the Kotputli-Behror district, to save 3-year-old Chetna, who fell into a borewell over a week ago.
Authorities, led by Kotputli-Behror District Collector Kalpana Agarwal, remain hopeful that the operation will be successful.
On Tuesday, Kalpana Agarwal, Kotputli-Behror DC stated, “We have not lost hope. Our whole team is motivated. We are positive we will rescue the child. We called three other teams of experts to validate the NDRF team’s work. We are widening the tunnel we made to rescue the girl because the borewell tilts at the end.”
Authorities ordered specialized instruments to handle the area’s tough stones. They also called in the mining rescue team to assist with operations.
Additionally, the officials are optimistic about finishing the work by Monday, according to NDRF officials.
Earlier on Sunday, DC Agarwal highlighted that the operation faces significant challenges, including the rocky terrain. She also pointed out the temperature difference between the top and bottom of the tunnel.
On Thursday night, authorities implemented a B-plan and lowered a casing pipe into the hole beside the borewell to aid the operation.
The rescue effort is being led by the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local authorities.
Chetna fell into the borewell while playing in a field owned by her father on 23 December.
