The government has taken a firm stance against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, declaring that terrorists will either be imprisoned or sent to jahannum (hell). This assertion was made by Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai in response to a question from Congress MP Pramod Tiwari in the Rajya Sabha.
Minister Rai emphasized the Modi government’s zero tolerance for terrorism and vowed to put an end to recent terrorist activities. He confidently stated, “They (terrorists) will not succeed in their designs.”
Providing recent statistics, Rai informed the House that 28 terrorists have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir in the past few days, although some security personnel have also lost their lives. Since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, approximately 900 terrorists have been neutralized by security forces in the region.
“Modi government has zero tolerance for terrorism. We will end terrorism. They (terrorists) will either be in jail or jahannum… I want to assure the House,” Rai declared.
Rai also compared the current situation with the period of the UPA government from 2004 to 2014. During that decade, Jammu and Kashmir experienced 7,217 incidents of terrorism. Since the BJP came to power in 2014, the number has decreased to 2,259 up to July 21 of this year.

The minister condemned the politicization of these issues, highlighting the unfortunate loss of 2,829 citizens and security personnel between 2004 and 2014. However, since 2014, this number has reduced by 67 percent, along with a 69 percent reduction in terror incidents.
Rai concluded by assuring that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are now living in a peaceful environment with a full guarantee of security.
