The Modi government approved the construction of 8 new national highways today (August 2), with a projected cost of 50 thousand crores. These national highways will span a total length of 936 km. The Modi cabinet approved 8 crucial national high-speed road corridor projects during a meeting held on Friday.

These States Will Benefit

The approval of 8 highway proposals will provide significant benefits to five major states. Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Maharashtra, and West Bengal. These new highways will enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth across these regions.

Logistics Cost Will Be Reduced by Highway Construction

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced that the Cabinet approved 8 essential national high-speed road corridor projects, encompassing a total length of 936 km, at a cost exceeding Rs 50,000 crore. He emphasized that this infrastructure development will significantly reduce logistics costs within the country, thereby boosting overall connectivity and efficiency in transportation.

Kharagpur-Morgram Highway Gets Approval

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari confirmed that the Cabinet, under the leadership of PM Modi. Approved the construction of the 231 km long, four-lane access-controlled Kharagpur-Morgram National High-Speed Corridor. This project will be undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs 10,247 crore. This highway aims to improve travel efficiency and economic linkage between the regions it connects.

The strategic investment in these national highways underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the country’s infrastructure, facilitating smoother transportation, and fostering regional development.
