CEC Rajiv Kumar Assures Smooth Polling, Urges High Voter Turnout In Second Phase Of Lok Sabha Elections

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar reassured the nation of the meticulous arrangements in place for the second phase of Lok Sabha polls, urging citizens to actively engage in the democratic process. In an interview with ANI, Kumar emphasized the provision of various amenities and robust security measures at polling booths to ensure a smooth voting experience.

“We have made complete preparations for today’s elections. Polling booths have been decorated. There is no possibility of any kind of violence at any booth nor has any such report been received,” he asserted, underlining the peaceful atmosphere maintained.

Highlighting the significance of voter participation, Kumar called upon citizens to exercise their right without hesitation, describing the electoral process as the pride of the nation. He assured voters of essential facilities such as drinking water and toilets at the polling stations, emphasizing the importance of maximizing voter turnout.

Moreover, Kumar mentioned the collaborative efforts with key authorities including the India Meteorological Department, National Disaster Management Authority, and Health Ministry to assess weather conditions and ensure preparedness. With the IMD forecasting normal weather, recent rains have alleviated concerns regarding heat, further facilitating the voting process.

Kumar emphasized the pivotal role of voters as ambassadors of the Election Commission, urging them to fulfill their civic duty by casting their votes. He appealed to all sections of society, including women, youth, and elders, to actively participate in the electoral process, expressing optimism for a high voter turnout.

The second phase of polling encompasses 88 seats across 13 states and Union Territories, with significant representation from states like Assam, Bihar, Kerala, and Uttar Pradesh. Following the first phase held on April 19 across 102 constituencies, this phase marks another crucial step in determining the composition of the Lok Sabha.

With constituencies spanning Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Manipur, Tripura, and Jammu and Kashmir, the electoral process signifies the diverse democratic fabric of India.

As citizens exercise their democratic right, the nation eagerly awaits the results, slated for announcement on June 4. Amidst the fervor of democracy, the Election Commission remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
