The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) interrogated 13 suspects in the NEET question paper leak case at Beur jail in Patna, Bihar, on Sunday, following authorization from the special CBI court. Among the suspects, six are reportedly part of an exam mafia, four are candidates, and three are parents.
Sources familiar with the investigation revealed that during the interrogation, nearly all suspects identified Sanjeev Kumar, also known as Sajeev Mukhiya, and Sikandar Yadvendu as the primary orchestrators of the NEET exam question paper leak. However, the statements provided by the suspects contained some discrepancies. The CBI is actively searching for Mukhiya, who remains at large. “Mukhiya’s name was consistently mentioned by all those arrested in connection with the paper leak case. They also indicated links to Mukhiya’s group, known as the Mukhiya gang,” an official, speaking anonymously, stated.
On June 28, the CBI court granted the remand of Oasis school principal Ahsanul Haque, vice-principal Imtiaz Alam, and journalist Jamaluddin for further questioning. These individuals were brought to Patna from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, on charges of tampering with question papers. The CBI conducted face-to-face interrogations with them. Additionally, the CBI is examining the principal’s call records and his connections in Bihar.

Previously, the court had also granted the remand of Ashutosh and Manish Prakash for further questioning. On June 27, the CBI arrested Ashutosh and Manish Prakash in Patna. Manish was accused of arranging accommodation at Ashutosh Kumar’s request. The agency is also interrogating Baldev Kumar, also known as Chintu, and Mukesh Kumar while they are on remand.
