The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has identified significant inconsistencies in the statements of Sanjay Roy, the arrested civil volunteer linked to the horrific rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College & Hospital.
These discrepancies emerged during a recent polygraph test, prompting a deeper investigation into his connections and the credibility of his statements.

According to sources, the first major inconsistency involves Roy’s relationship with Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar, who is currently in CBI custody for alleged financial irregularities.
Roy initially stated during interrogation and the polygraph test that he had no personal acquaintance with Ghosh and only saw him at a college event.
However, statements from other hospital staff suggest that Roy had considerable access to various parts of the hospital due to Ghosh’s alleged patronage, and some individuals even reported direct interactions between the two.
The second area of concern pertains to Roy’s claimed association with an assistant sub-inspector of the Kolkata Police.
During questioning, Roy described this officer as merely a professional acquaintance.
Yet, residents of the police barrack in North Kolkata, where Roy had been residing, have suggested otherwise.
They indicated that Roy’s stay in the barrack a facility reserved for regular police personnel might have been facilitated due to the assistant sub-inspector’s political influence, a privilege not typically granted to contractual civic volunteers.
The CBI is now intensifying its efforts to uncover any additional influential connections that Roy may have leveraged.
These revelations have raised questions about the extent of Roy’s connections and potential influences that might have affected his access and behavior within the hospital and the police barrack.
The investigation is ongoing, with the CBI carefully examining all aspects of Roy’s background and affiliations to uncover the full scope of his involvement and connections in the case.
