Cash for Jobs Scam: Tamil Nadu minister Senthil Balaji reaches SC after setback from High Court, files bail petition

The troubles of Tamil Nadu minister V. Senthil Balaji, who was arrested in the cash for job money laundering case, are far from over. The Madras High Court refused to grant bail to Minister Senthil Balaji and rejected the bail plea. Now he has turned to the Supreme Court. A bail petition has been filed in the Supreme Court on behalf of Minister Senthil Balaji, on which the court is ready to hear.

Bail petition filed in the Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the bail plea of Senthil Balaji. A demand has been made for an early hearing of the bail application before the bench of Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul. The petition of the arrested minister will be heard on October 30. After facing setbacks from the Madras High Court, the minister has moved to the Supreme Court.

On Monday, the DMK filed a plea requesting bail, and the court had deferred decisions on it. After hearing thorough arguments from senior counsel NR Elango, representing Balaji, and additional solicitor general ARL Sundaresan, representing the ED, Justice G Jayachandran reserved the order without giving a specific date.

Attorney Elango stated that Balaji sought care at Stanley Hospital on October 9 since he had not yet fully recovered from the bypass surgery. He may thus be granted more bail so that he can receive additional treatment. Elango claimed that the doctors at Stanley Hospital had concluded that there were signs of a potential second attack, citing the hospital’s medical report. He further stated that any physician may be appointed by the court to assess Balaji’s health.
