BRICS Summit 2026: PM Modi, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled Hold Bilateral Talks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held bilateral talks in New Delhi on Saturday on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and other senior officials attended the meeting.

PM Modi and Sheikh Khaled exchanged greetings and shared a warm hug before the talks.

The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince arrived in New Delhi on Friday to attend the BRICS Summit hosted by India under its 2026 chairship. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh received him at the airport.

The Ministry of External Affairs said the visit would provide an opportunity to further strengthen the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, particularly in trade and energy security, with a focus on shared prosperity.

India is hosting the two-day 18th BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam on September 12 and 13.

India’s BRICS Chairship follows the theme ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability’, reflecting PM Modi’s people-centric approach based on the principle of ‘Humanity First’.

BRICS has 11 members and 10 partner countries, including the UAE, Malaysia and Vietnam. Sheikh Khaled’s visit follows PM Modi’s June meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the G7 Summit in France.

The two leaders reviewed progress in technology, trade, investment, energy and defence, besides exchanging views on regional and global developments.

The latest meeting further reflects the growing strategic relationship between India and the UAE and their efforts to expand cooperation across key economic and strategic sectors.
