Ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Virendraa Sachdeva on Wednesday wrote a letter to Arvind Kejriwal, national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), urging him to abandon his ‘bad habits of lying and cheating’.
In his letter, Sachdeva wrote, “All of us, since our childhood, take a resolution on New Year’s Day to give up bad habits and do something good and new. Today, on the first day of New Year 2025, all the people of Delhi hope that you will bring about meaningful change in yourself by giving up your bad habits of lying and cheating.”
The BJP leader demanded that Kejriwal make five resolutions, including publicly apologizing to the people of Delhi for allegedly promoting liquor in the city.
Sachdeva also accused Kejriwal of making false promises and misleading various sections of society, including women, the elderly, and religious groups.
“I trust you will never swear falsely on your children again. You will publicly apologize for the false assurances given regarding the cleaning of Mother Yamuna and the unpardonable crime of corruption. You will pledge not to meet donations from anti-national forces or take donations for political gains,” he added.
Sachdeva urged the former Delhi Chief Minister to distance himself from ‘lies and deceit’ and focus on self-improvement.
This exchange follows Kejriwal’s recent letter to RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, in which he raised concerns about the BJP’s actions and their impact on democracy.
Kejriwal questioned whether the RSS supported the BJP’s past wrongdoings, including allegations of vote-buying and manipulating the Dalit and Purvanchali vote.
Earlier in the week, AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar accused the BJP of attempting to manipulate voter lists in Delhi, specifically in the Shadara constituency, where BJP leader Vishal Bharadwaj allegedly submitted applications to remove voters’ names.
