PM Modi On Mann Ki Baat: India’s Cultural Heritage Inspires The World

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the 128th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, highlighted India’s enduring civilisational ethos of peace and compassion.

He remarked that while the Mahabharata battle took place in Kurukshetra centuries ago, the story can now be experienced vividly at the Mahabharata Experience Centre through 3D sound, light, and digital technology.

“When I visited Kurukshetra on 25 November, the experience at this Anubhav Kendra filled me with joy,” he said.

The Prime Minister described his presence at the International Gita Mahotsav at Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra as ‘very special’, highlighting how people worldwide are drawing inspiration from the Bhagavad Gita.

Participants included individuals from Europe, Central Asia, and beyond. For the first time, the Gita was publicly performed in Saudi Arabia, while Latvia hosted a significant Gita Mahotsav with artists from Estonia, Lithuania, and Algeria taking part.

“These developments demonstrate the universal appeal of India’s cultural and spiritual heritage,” PM Modi added.

Peace and Compassion in India’s Heritage

PM Modi reiterated that peace and compassion remain at the heart of Indian culture.

He cited the humanitarian efforts of Jam Saheb Maharaja Digvijay Singh of Nawanagar during World War II, who sheltered thousands of Polish Jewish children in Gujarat.

“During a time of global destruction, Jam Saheb focused not on strategic alliances but on protecting children, giving them a new life. His example continues to inspire us today,” the Prime Minister said.

People recently unveiled a statue of Jam Saheb in Moshav Nevatim in southern Israel, recognising his efforts.

PM Modi also recalled his visit to Jam Saheb’s memorial in Warsaw, Poland, describing it as an unforgettable experience.

Kashi Tamil Sangamam: A Confluence of Culture and Language

Turning to domestic cultural initiatives, PM Modi spoke about the upcoming fourth Kashi Tamil Sangamam, beginning on 2 December at Namo Ghat in Varanasi.

The event, themed ‘Learn Tamil — Tamil Karkalam’, celebrates the convergence of India’s oldest city and one of the world’s oldest languages.

“Whenever one interacts with the people of Kashi, they express their joy in participating in the Sangamam. It offers the opportunity to learn, meet new people, and strengthen the bond of Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat,” the Prime Minister said, encouraging all citizens to participate enthusiastically.

PM Modi concluded by emphasising that India’s cultural heritage, deeply rooted in peace and compassion, continues to inspire both the nation and the world.

International interest in the Bhagavad Gita and cultural exchanges such as the Kashi Tamil Sangamam reflect India’s global influence while reinforcing its civilisational values at home.
