Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the 128th episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ to celebrating the determination and capability of India’s Gen-Z, calling them the ‘greatest strength of Viksit Bharat’.
He highlighted their resilience, innovative spirit, and ability to thrive even in the most challenging situations.
PM Modi opened the episode by reflecting on the virtues of perseverance and collective strength.
“If there is determination in the heart, faith in the collective strength to work as a team, and the courage to fall and then rise again, then success is guaranteed even in difficult times,” he said.
He encouraged young people to embrace challenges as stepping stones to growth.
The Prime Minister drew a vivid comparison between past and present navigational efforts.
He recalled the era when Indian sailors ventured into the ocean without satellites, GPS, or advanced navigation tools, yet successfully reached distant destinations.
Today, he said, nations are exploring the vastness of space with similar challenges—moving forward in conditions where communication or guidance may not always be available.
PM Modi shared an incident that deeply inspired him—a viral video from ISRO’s drone competition.
In the contest, young participants, mainly from the Gen-Z age group, attempted to fly drones designed for Mars-like conditions.
Without GPS, the drones had to rely solely on cameras and onboard software to recognise ground patterns, judge altitude, detect obstacles, and find a safe landing path. As a result, many drones crashed repeatedly.
However, he highlighted the remarkable perseverance of a team from Pune.
Despite multiple crashes, the team refused to give up, and after several attempts, their drone successfully remained stable in simulated Martian conditions.
PM Modi said this determination reflected the true spirit of India’s youth.
The Prime Minister linked this youthful tenacity to India’s lunar missions. He recalled the moment when Chandrayaan-2 lost communication, leaving the nation momentarily disheartened.
Instead of being defeated, Indian scientists resumed work the very same day, laying the foundation for the success of Chandrayaan-3.
He described Chandrayaan-3’s landing as ‘the triumph of confidence born out of failure’.
PM Modi concluded by expressing his admiration for the passion and commitment of India’s youth.
He said the spark he saw in the eyes of the drone competitors reminded him of India’s scientists.
He affirmed that the determination of India’s youth is the greatest strength of Viksit Bharat and added that their innovation will continue to guide the nation towards a brighter future.
